4 December was selected to be celebrated as the Indian Navy Day as the Indian Navy conducted a major operation, called Operation Trident, on the ports of Karachi during the India-Pakistan War in 1971. The Indian navy succeeded to heavily damage four Pakistani vessels as also Pakistani facilities. The day is also marked to remember Indian personnel who got killed during the war.
Indian Navy Day celebrations and events-
Every year on December 4, a large number of ships from the Mumbai headquarters of the Navy depart towards the Visakhapatnam port. Upon arriving at Visakhapatnam Port, all the ships celebrate this day there. This entire event is planned by the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. Navy Demonstration is done at the War Memorial RK beach in Visakhapatnam. Navy’s best ships, the Submarine, Fighter Jet, and the Force, come from all over India for the Navy Day Demonstration.
On the day of Indian Navy Day, the strength of the Navy is shown to the whole world. All the ships show their strength and how powerful they are. On Navy Day, most of the Navy ships that come to Visakhapatnam are also open to the general public. Everyone can visit and see what kind of ships are used by the Indian Navy.
